There are going to be long delays at LHR today after 18 terrorists were arrested with plans to blow up aircraft in flight using hand luggage.

The delays announced this morning (it must be chaos today!) are not the only impact for those flying and who share our hobby. The new requirements restricting hand baggage to basically a wallet or purse will impact those flying to or from the UK for photography as all camera equipment must be checked in which means your film will go through the industrial strength hold baggage scanners (unless you are all-digital!). Therefore, buy your film at the other end or in "duty free" at inflated prices! If you are already in the UK and flying out to your home, then get your film developed here. I expect the sale of Samsonite suitcases will rocket!

Let us hope that the threat has been nipped in the bud and that the new restrictions will be relaxed, if appropriate, soon.
