John's Field at RAF Mildenhall

Here is the general state of play.

The lease on the field, due for renewal this month, has not been renewed and it is now under local authority control.

It appears that the decision to lapse the lease was a family matter, though some mails have suggested that the local authority were keen to regain "ownership." (MOD / USAF influences?) It also seems that the scaffolding photo platform is to be removed fairly soon which adds fuel to the influences theory.
But...

A notable source has advised that the Mildenhall security people were not unhappy with the spotters field as it was very easy to keep an eye on everyone.
They are a little concerned that spotters will be cropping up all around the base now that a known meeting place has gone. USAF could remedy that one...

Didn't Mildenhall have a dedicated viewing area, like Lakenheath's?...I can't figure out why Lakenheath can have an enclosure and MiIldenhall can't/hasn't.

There also seems to be a view that the site could become a caravan park, similar to the one's that used to magically appear when Mildenhall Shows were on. Wait and see...

That's all folks....
