RAF Northolt Nightshoot XVII held on the 23rd October 2014
Once again organised by Phil Dawe, this Nightshoot, number 17 in the series, had attracted some
very special visitors. There were a few last minute cancellations, which was only to be expected,
but what was there was certainly worth the entrance fee/donation. The highlight of the evening & a very unexpected visitor, had to be the
Army Air Corps Westland AH.1 Longbow Apache, ZJ174, from 663 Squadron based at RAF Wattisham. This was the very first time I've shot
an Apache under floodlight conditions and at night, fabulous!
Other visitors included a Shorts Tucano T.1, ZF343, from 72(R) Squadron based at RAF Linton-on-Ouse,
a Hawk T.2, ZK030/U, from 4(R) Squadron based at RAF Valley, from the Royal Aircraft Establishment ETPS/QinetiQ at Boscombe Down,
a Dassault Breguet Alpha Jet A, ZJ647, & an Agusta A-109E, ZE416 & from Airbus Helicopters a Puma HC.2, XW213, based at RAF Benson.
Foreign participation came in the form of a North American OV-10B Bronco, 99+18, which is based in Belgium & is owned &
operated by the Bronco Demo Team & flown by Tony de Bruyn.
Other participants included MD902 Explorer, G-EHMS from the London Air Ambulance Service which is actually based at RAF Northolt.
Apart from one small shower the weather once again held good, a bonus was the almost non-stop fireworks which were due to the nearby Divali celebrations!
32 Squadron, RAF Northolt based BAe 146 CC2, ZE701, was also out on the pan.
