RAF Lakenheath Fence
Aug 16th, 2010 at 3:57pm

A new SOLID fence is being built on the base side of the existing wire fence along the A1065 main road.

The views into the base from along the A1065 main road will be a thing of the past...   Cry

Also, the visiting aircraft are now parking on the Warren side of the base which means with the new fence completed the visiting a/c will only be viewable from the Warren.

It is assumed the reason for the work is so that people HAVE to use the viewing area, freeing up security from checking "suspicious" activity on the A1065 (spotters at the fence), keeping the traffic flowing freely, etc.

The Warren is the elevated area round the back of the base, accessible from Lakenheath village, giving good views over the base, albeit from quite a distance for the stuff on the A1065 side. If the visitors are parking this side now, I would suggest this is probably a good thing from a viewing point of view?
